Peach Core - Photo Scan
Above is the texture bake from a HQ Meshroom scan onto a lower poly model.
It's available on BlenderKit - just search in app for "Peach Core"
It's also available through Blend Swap at the link below
Both versions are Royalty Free and CC-0 licensed for any use.
The quality of the color captured leaves something to be desired at close shots, but I think it should hold for background shots of if you want some variety in a refuse pile etc.
Below I've detailed my attempts at getting better and better scans with meshroom.
If you're looking for tutorials and instructions I highly recommend the below links. What I'm working on is more of a case study and continued progress update.
Tutorials:
Meshroom is an opensource photogrammetry application available at:
I brought in 207 photos on this session 206 were accepted by Meshroom's scene creation.
Scanning around it looks like there are some angles I could have filled in to get perhaps an even better scan.
Next I opened up Blender to start converting it into something more useable.
As you can see above there is lots of extra mesh data to clean up. With blender that's pretty easy to do.
I tried a few different approaches to modeling a low poly version and landed on using the built in blender remesh tool.
I created a cage from the lowpoly model and baked the textures only to find out there was a hole in the mesh. I back tracked (when using a cage the normal count between the projected surfaces and the cage must match.) I did a quick clean up on this spot and had to also update the U/Vs.
I'm still learning a lot of the ropes on the fine details of this so if you are looking for a more in depth look at the texture baking process I highly suggest
